The Retirement Villages Act 2016 and Retirement Village Regulations 2017 will commence on 1 January 2018.

The Office for the Ageing (OFTA) is in the process of updating its publications to reflect the new legislation. This includes the creation of a new publication – A Guide to Best Practice for Residents’ Committees.

OFTA has received a number of enquiries about when this guide for residents’ committees will be available.

OFTA intends to release a draft of this publication by the end of 2017 and will seek feedback on the draft in early 2018.

In addition to this new publication, OFTA will also hold a number of information sessions for residents’ committees in 2018.

Details about times and venues for these information sessions will be provided at a later date.
